3rd Visit To Rabbit Run (Ryan Buxton)

On my 3rd trip to Rabbit Run park I spent a lot of time walking around the park. It was damp and a lot more full of life. I saw more birds, rabbits, and especially insects. The insects were somewhat annoying there were so many. The smell was moist almost like the ground was a giant sponge trapping watter inside of it. There were a lot more backround noises this trip with birds chirping and leaves blowing in the wind. It was a nice journey and a good feeling to see the park for the first time in a good amount of time.

the park has changed so much since we started, winter has fully lost its grip, and everything has melted and relaxed back to its thriving state. The american robins and carolina chickadees are really singing their hearts out. I barely recognize the park without flooding or ice

Long Time No See (Dustin Stevens)

I finally made my way back out to the park last week; I should have posted sooner, but what's a spring break with homework? Anyways, this time I brought a professional with me. You'll notice him in one the pictures. At first glance, he might look like a moron; chances are - you're probably right!

First thing I noticed was the difference that lighting can make on a park. It was much more gloomy and mysterious the first time I went because of the clouds as well as the drowsy and bitter weather. If you compare the pictures from my first visit, you'll understand what I'm saying. The sunlight really helps define the nature throughout the park.

Changes

things are starting to change at rabbitrun park, all the snow and ice is melting and everything is actually flowing. Plants are starting to come out of their ice imprisonments and take some shape, you can tell spring is around the corner.

Journey number 2 (Nadia Guerrero):

I made my second visit this week. It was bitter cold and if wasn't for all my layers I had on, it would of been pretty unbearable.On this adventure I sat there and observed the trees and just let my mind wonder and ponder. I don't know exactly what it is about trees that fascinates me. Trees remind me of finger prints. Each tree is very unique in its own way.

My Second visit to Rabbitrun; Tyler Byrd

I took advantage of our snowday, and ventured out to rabbitrun today. It was chilly, and the wind was definatly blowing. Upon observation, i discovered that there was nearly noone there. I felt a familiar feeling start to creep up on me; it was the feeling I get when i'm alone in an art gallery, a feeling of freedom. I was undisrupted by any outside stimuli or opinions, therefore, I was free to take in all of the beauties of nature without having the worries of the world constantly hanging over my head. I took a quiet stroll along a pond I had discovered the visit before, and skipped some rocks along the water. I really cant remember the last time I was so relaxed, even with the bitter cold biting at my exposed hands and face. I kept stolling along, past the pond, until something caught my eye: A rotting tree. I walked closer and it soon became apparent how large the tree actually was. It must have been 150 feet high, maybe higher. I remember thinking, "How long has this been here? how long was it alive? what if it falls on me?" I began to think of myself as insignifigant in comparison to this tree, to nature, and to the universe. Not just myself, but humanity as well; "we are all just another cog in the gears of exsistence," I thought. Just beacause we as humans were blessed with an unfathonable intelligence, does not give us the right to dominate and exploit the planet. We have to learn to Coexist; with each other, and with nature. Im definatly looking foward to my next adventure.

Second Visit to Rabbit Run Park (Ryan Buxton)

My second trip to Rabbit Run Park was a little warmer than my first. There wasn't much wind and there also wasn't much wildlife activity. It was very visible that the flooding from before was starting to go away because the water only came up to the start of the roots of the tree instead of the base of the trunk. The pond was very still and the ground was very soggy. The grass however, was starting to look a little more greener. I would say the trip was very possitive by showing that spring is soon coming.
